features

Serious practice, without the setup screen.

Everything you need to get faster is one keypress away: modes, live stats, races, and a profile that remembers every run.

Time & word modes

Sprint for 15, 30, or 45 seconds, or type a fixed 10, 25, or 50 words. Add punctuation, numbers, or easy and hard words for practice.

Live WPM & accuracy

Speed, accuracy, and errors update as you type, so you know how a test is going before it ends.

Per-second WPM chart

Every result plots your speed second by second, so bursts, stalls, and recoveries are easy to spot.

Live multiplayer races

Create a room, share the code, and race friends in real time over the same words, with live progress.

Rooms with chat

Public or private lobbies with built-in chat. Hosts can tune the mode, length, and turn chat off.

Global leaderboard

See where you rank against every typist on the platform, with the mode and length behind each score.

Profile & history

Best scores, test history, and progress charts collected on a profile you can share with one link.

Accent themes

Emerald, violet, blue, rose, amber, or cyan. One setting recolours the whole app, this page included.

Keyboard-first

Restart, switch modes, pick lengths, and jump between pages without ever reaching for the mouse.

Shareable test links

The URL keeps your mode, length, and text options, so a reload or a link you send opens the exact same test.

Fair scoring

Held keys and auto-repeat are ignored, and correct words lock in place, so every result reflects real typing.

Download your result

Save any finished test as a clean image card to post, send, or keep as a progress log.

modes

Pick a test, not a settings page.

Six test lengths, live race rooms, and results worth reading. Every tile opens straight into the real thing, and the link even remembers the mode.

use-cases

Made for people who type all day.

Keep practice short and repeatable: warm up with a sprint, race someone for real stakes, then read the chart to see exactly where the run slowed down.

Longer runs train steady pacing, so drafts and notes keep up with the thought instead of trailing it.

Competitive typists

Race friends in private rooms, then climb the global board one clean, consistent run at a time.

how-it-works

From first keystroke to the leaderboard.

Real screenshots from the app, not mockups. Pick a step to move the spotlight.

Time or words, three lengths each, plus punctuation, numbers, and easy or hard words. Alt + 1 and Alt + 2 flip modes, Alt + 3 to 5 pick the length, and the URL remembers your choice.

The test starts on your first keystroke. Correct letters light up, mistakes turn red, and speed and accuracy update live.

A per-second chart plots your WPM and raw WPM against your average, so you can see where the run sped up or stalled. Save it as an image with one key.

Open a room, send the code, and race live. Every standard signed-in run counts toward your profile and the global leaderboard.

Common questions

Still stuck? Get in touch.

Do I need an account to use Typestrix?

No. The typing test, every mode and length, live stats, the result chart, and themes all work as a guest. Sign in only when you want saved history, a profile, multiplayer races, or a leaderboard rank.

Is Typestrix free?

Yes. Typing tests, accounts, multiplayer rooms, and the leaderboard are all free to use.

Which test modes are available?

Time mode runs for 15, 30, or 45 seconds. Words mode ends after 10, 25, or 50 words. Switch with Alt + 1 / Alt + 2 and pick a length with Alt + 3, 4, or 5. You can also add punctuation and numbers, or switch to easy (short) or hard (long) words. Runs with any of those on are practice: they are not saved or ranked.

How is WPM calculated?

WPM counts correctly typed characters, divides by five (the standard word length), and scales to one minute. Accuracy is the share of your keystrokes that were correct.

How do multiplayer races work?

Create a room, choose the mode and length, and share the room code. Everyone types the same words at the same time and sees live progress. Rooms can be public or private, with optional chat.

Can holding a key inflate my score?

No. An anti-hold guard ignores held-down key repeats, so holding a key or the space bar adds nothing. Word lock keeps finished, fully correct words fixed while words with mistakes stay editable.

Can I change the colours?

Yes. Pick emerald, violet, blue, rose, amber, or cyan in settings. The accent follows you across the whole app, including this page.

Does it work on phones and tablets?

Typestrix runs in any modern browser. It is built for physical keyboards, but it works on touch devices too: tap the text to bring up the keyboard, and change the test from the Test Settings button. Profiles, the leaderboard, and optional haptics work everywhere.
