How the Typestrix leaderboard ranks you

Your rank uses speed and accuracy together. How the score is calculated, what daily and all-time mean, which tests count, and why a run might not appear.

The leaderboard shows the ten best typists for each board. Your position comes from your single best result, and it rewards accuracy as much as speed.

The score

Rank is decided by one number:

score = WPM × accuracy ÷ 100   (rounded)
ResultScore
100 WPM at 98%98
110 WPM at 88%97
90 WPM at 100%90

So 100 WPM at 98% outranks 110 WPM at 88%. The table on the leaderboard shows your WPM, accuracy and test time for that best run; you can sort by any column, but your rank always comes from the score.

Six boards

BoardWhat it covers
All-TimeYour best score ever
DailyYour best score today. Resets at midnight India time (18:30 UTC)
All Modes / Time / WordsEvery test, only time tests, or only words tests

Each board keeps your best result only. A slower run never moves you down, and a better one replaces your old entry straight away.

Which tests count

A test counts when all of these are true:

  • you are signed in when you finish,
  • punctuation, numbers and easy or hard words are all off. Those are practice runs and are never saved,
  • the result passes Typestrix's checks for plausible typing.

Why a run might not appear

  • It was not your best. Only improvements change the board.
  • It was practice. Any text option makes a run practice-only.
  • Two results within ten seconds. After a result is submitted, the next ten seconds are skipped to prevent bursts. The test is still saved to your profile.
  • The result failed a check. Results faster than 300 WPM, or with numbers that do not add up, are rejected. A sudden jump far above your own recent results can also be held back.
  • You are not in the top ten. The board lists ten names; your profile has all your saved results.

Your name and avatar

The board stores your name and avatar with your best result. If you change them, the board updates the next time you set a new best on it.

Playing fair

Typestrix ignores held-down keys, locks finished words against backspace, pauses the test if you switch tabs, and checks every result on the server before it is saved. That keeps the board about typing. More detail on how this works is in the engineering notes on score checks.
